who would you like to be known as? that's kind of been my question... i really struggled with it for months after P died. i was his wife... i'm A's mom... he and i were one... and then half of me was gone... so who was i? who did i want to be? today i was reading this book and it talked about john the disciple and how he was known as the one whom Jesus loved. that's what i want my existence to be. even through circumstances that are traumatic, i want to have my identity be the one whom Jesus loved... He loves me so much to walk me through the shadow of death and bring me out the other side with His face shining upon me...
these days have been hard. going through boxes and sorting through things... memories.. all the pain comes back... not just that but questions all over again are bombarding me. who else but our Lord and Savior do we cling to at times like this? but i'm so tired... Lord help me through all this... especially these next 6 weeks as i prepare to go back and the first months there. grieving is so draining... on top of all the things that need to get done.
please pray for coverage over me during this time!!!

not beside, but ahead...
the lord has been so good to me. i feel like He is not walking beside me, but definitely ahead of me... lighting my every path and allowing me to see what great things He has in store for me. about a month ago, i decided to go back to the country in which we left 10 and a half months ago. there were lots of thoughts in making this decision, but the Lord again walking before me gave me peace and i have seen His hand work so clearly through this process and now as i prepare to go back. i have to thank those of you who have been praying for me... without you i would not be where i am today. thanks for being my support. please continue to pray for A and i as we embark this new journey in our lives. yes there are a lot of unknowns which i feel like could cause anxiety, but knowing that the Lord is going before me, i feel at peace with everything.
as you all know my computer is broken and thanks to NA, it is being fixed. that in itself was an answer to pray also. best buy had asked me to pay a lot to fix it and knowing i needed it, i just put it in. i had contacted a few people to see if they could help, but i did not get a response. but a couple days after i put it into best buy, i got a message saying that NA could fix it. praise God. i called best buy and again praise God that they hadn't shipped it out yet and i even got my deposit back!!! YEAH!!! so now it's getting fixed. i have been able to check e-mail since JH let me use his extra iphone... then JM came with her extra laptop. so here i am working hard on her laptop now. thanks to all these great people!!! oh yeah and KS that drove to best buy to pick up my computer to take to NA's, since i couldn't do it because A was sick. you guys all rock!!! praise God for the body of Christ that comes together to help each other.
my weeks have been a little crazy and only is going to get crazier, but i enjoy seeing the way God orchestrates things in the midst of all this.
this past week without a computer and A being sick, i felt like God was giving me time to rest before the big storm. so when A was laying on the couch i would lay with her and spend time with her... when she took a nap i laid with her... we took it so slow those days... then the days got busy...
P's parents came into town. that was a real treat. A loves her grandparents and it was so fun to see her have a good time with them. the best thing was seeing her swim with grandpa... she loves those floaties and is so brave!!!
on sunday i did something that i would have never done and now i will probably never do again. ha ha... since P died, i feel like there are so many things in life that i have not tried and wanted to at least try, i mean what have you got to loose... so when a friend asked me to do a 5K with her i said yes. the race was yesterday and 7 of us from my church and P's dad did the race together. everyone was on different paces... most trained, i did not. i ran like four days out of the six weeks of training we were supposed to do. so yesterday i was hurting running the race i did not train for. left in the dust of the other 7 people i thought of the importance of training... thought of how much better i would have done if i trained... thought of how in life we have to train ourselves for the things to come, especially as followers of Christ... i was a little embarrassed being the last of the group (our group-there were still lots of people behind me). anyway i crossed the finish line, went to the alley, threw up, met with the group and cried. i had all these emotions inside of me... how i actually did it - not my best, but i didn't quit... how i wished P was at the finish line to give me a big hug... how i knew he would be so proud of me, whether i trained or not that i did something like that... how we really don't know what tomorrow holds and so we need to live our fullest... how i did better than my goal... all these thoughts went through my head and the rest of the day i cried periodically... still i can't tell you all that i was feeling when i finished that race, but it was an accomplishment... i don't ever want to do it again, but if i do, i definitely am going to train for it... or else like today, i am not going to be able to move. thanks for those of you cheering me on and running with me... LI, LM, KS, LC, BA, FI, RP, BR, GM and JS. every time i hear the cowbell i will run now. ha ha... (hope to get picture soon)
please pray for A and i as the time is winding down for us to go. our flight leaves june 9th. tomorrow we will have 6 weeks left. pray for our hearts as we go back for a year... especially little A... don't know how much she understands, but praying that the Lord will lead her little heart through all this.

time is flying...

**the PEAs. P drew this on the computer**
can you believe it's 10 months? i can't believe that in two months it will have been a year. how crazy is that? in the beginning i felt like time would not go... i felt i was stuck in time forever, but now i can't get it to stop... days, weeks and months are flying by... wow...
last night i had a dream about P... have been dreaming of him a lot this past week... i like it, it leaves me with good memories. before when i would dream of him (which was like three times) the whole next day i would cry and feel sad... now they are sweet and nice. miss him... but glad he decided to come see me in my dreams, since i haven't seen him in months. funny how months ago i would do anything to bring him back and how now i accept what has happened, hope for what the Lord has for me in the future and live with joy. like i typed last night, one day i will be sitting on Jesus' lap and He will explain to me all that has happened and i will see the glory in it all. (hoping actually that i could see some of it before sitting on His lap)
my computer is broken... actually there was a little problem, which i was thinking of fixing, but this morning another problem arose which makes me sad. the computer fell and the CD/DVD part of my laptop broke in half... the morning was spent at the "computer doctor" trying to see how the little problem and big problem could be fixed. it will take two to three weeks. a friend (SR) said that she may be able to hook me up with one for those weeks, so thanks SR for coming to the rescue so many times. i love you girl. - the computer is at home for now, but in the afternoon it will be taken back to the "computer doctor" and i won't see it for a while. please pray that it will be a short time as i have lots of work to do on it.
laps
today i was on the train after counseling thinking of A. we have been watching the kid version of "the passion of Christ" since good friday and she has been asking such good questions like, "but why mommy does Jesus have to die on the cross?" "why a cross mommy?" "how did Jesus grow up?" "why the men being mean?" "why is there an earthquake?" and much more. she sits on my lap as we watch the movie and it's an intense movie and she asks all those questions. i love the questions, but after five days of the same movie and same questions... now i just ask them back to her, "well A why did Jesus have to die on the cross?" "why do you think the men are being mean?" i love how she answers it just the way i did with even the little intonations that i do. she's so funny...
but today as i was thinking of that... A sitting on my lap asking the most important questions that could ever be asked, i thought of one day sitting on Jesus' lap asking my questions as we watch the movie of my life... "Jesus, why did that have to happen?" "Jesus, but why like that?" "how come you didn't save me from that?" "Jesus, what was the good in that?" and much more... and i imagined Him holding me like i hold A and answering all my questions because He loves me... i don't know if that's biblical or if that will really even happen, but a thought that came to mind today...
i have lots of questions actually, some that have already been answered, some that will be answered and some i won't know until i'm sitting on His lap and He explains it to me... but the great thing is that God cares... not just cares, but is so intimately involved in our lives and wants us to see it and feel it.
i love how much God loves me and how He freed me from my sins so that i could boldly and confidently approach Him in that intimate relationship, but the best thing is that He not only wants it with me, but with all peoples. God loves each person so intimately and personally... He knows our needs and desires and wants to have a relationship with us to fulfill those for us. Sometimes it's not the way you think or expect (that i know is true), but nonetheless He listens and fulfills it and you'll see that in the end it was better than you had ever imagined.
i'm a planner... i like schedules and like to know when i'm expected where and what i'm supposed to do... so i have my own set of expectations in life and like to plan things out... but not all of them have turned out the way i wanted nor will they always turn out in the future. the great thing is, one day i will sit on Jesus' lap and ask Him those questions... "but why not that time?" "why did that happen?" and He'll explain it to me, but i hope that i could see the betterness (i like to make up words) of the situation as they occur. that's not always going to happen i know, but i don't want to be blind when it is obvious that my plan stunk compared to what God had for me.
i would love to be sitting on Jesus' lap...

He is risen... He is risen indeed
my daughter had a part in the church program today... "Jesus died on the cross". she did so well at home and knowing how she did at christmas i knew that she would probably just say it at home. i was so nervous for her. we talked about how daddy used to talk on stage and he was so good at it. she said that she was going to do it, but i knew that it probably was not going to happen. i was nervous she was going to cry again, but she didn't and i was so proud that she stood there most of the time and crawled down the stage herself to come to me. she ended up not saying the line, but i was just really proud that she stood there and did not cry.
i have also been teaching her that if i say "He is risen" then she needs to say, "He is risen indeed". so tonight at the dinner table that what we said back and forth throughout dinner. then she asked about who is risen and that was such a great talk. i love my little girl.
during church today, i remembered how we did Resurrection Sunday last year. it was at my second favorite place over there and i remember P playing the guitar. he practiced for a couple weeks getting ready for that afternoon. the children loved opening each egg that had something in it to represent something from Easter. i remember washing each others' feet. hmmm~ it was a great memory to have.
God is good isn't He. right now i wish i could sit down with Jesus drinking a hot cup of chai tea latte and just chat about my deepest heart things on the most comfortable couch... what a great date that would be. sitting in front of my Savior having His full attention. maybe i'll go do that now... i don't have chai tea latte, but i could sit and have a great conversation with Him...
He is risen...

please pray for me as yesterday has taken an emotional toll on me. just for continued peace.
today we remember Christ's sacrifice for us. i am so grateful for the life i have in that sacrifice. thank you Jesus for taking up that cross for me... can't wait til sunday when we say, "He has risen" and people say, "He has risen in deed". (that was for you KS)

urgent prayer!!!
got notice today that a friend got in a motorcycle accident. from KP's letter... "Today J got into an accident on his motorcycle and hurt his knee very badly. Tomorrow (hopefully Wed. evening your time) he will be evacuated for further testing, treatment, and possible surgery. At the hospital they did x-rays, which showed a fracture in 2 places and his kneecap is too high. When he gets to Singapore they will do a scan to look at the ligaments and soft tissue, which are likely torn, and at the very least damaged. At the moment he is in intense pain and cannot move his leg even a little bit without increasing the pain. He said this is the worst pain he’s ever experienced in his life…and he’s pretty tough."
i ask for prayers to be lifted up on their behalf. J will be leaving with a friend and K is going to be at home with 3 kids (a friend is there to help). i feel like i know what it's like to have to be home with kids while your husband is in the hospital (although different circumstances), so please pray for them!!! they need prayer coverage!!!

daddy's princess
these past few days, A and i have been trying to bond. that may sound funny, but we have had several rough days, so i feel like i need to establish stability for her by bonding a little. so i do things a little different at times so she knows that i love her and want to care for her. to some it may sound like spoiling, to me it's loving and meeting her where she needs to be met.
for naps, i have been singing to her until she falls asleep in my arms, which is only like 15 minutes max. it's a relaxing time for me to just sit with the girl i love the most and sing, and it's a sense of security for her. just now as i put her down for a nap, i saw some features that she has that are from P. her hands for one are just like his... her eyelashes are definitely from him too (gorgeous knockout lashes)... the top half of her nose... and much more, but i was thinking how beautiful she is.
P told A since she was born that she couldn't date until 30... ha ha... now i think the same way... she's so beautiful, not just on the outside, but her heart is so gentle (and as she grows, i'm praying she'll have a heart like her savior)... what am i going to do to take down all the boys that will be after her?
daddy's little princess is growing.
my friend just had a baby and as i held her today and looked at A, i just thought, "where does the time go?" - and she's only 3. i know there are people who feel that about their kids going off to college, getting married, having kids... ugh... praying my little girl will be solid in her faith that when she goes out, even though my heart will break, i'll know that she has someone far greater than me looking out for her.
my pastor, RB, told me how God cares for her and loves her more than i could ever... that truth is amazing and so comforting... thank you God.
so i feel like our rough days are coming to an end and i'm just going to have to love her and meet her where she is at. it's a challenge to do that and still lay down the law, but it's been so much better. please continue to pray for me about that.

behind Jesus
in my sunday school class we are watching louie giglio do a series on hope. of course in hope, there is suffering that comes first. in listening to his message today, i, and probably others in my class, were in tears. there was a part where he read something from a man dying of cancer to his chilren. it said something like, "when you come to heaven, after you give Jesus a big hug, i'll be right behind him waiting to hug you." i cried when i heard that... it hits home for me... i tell A that all the time, especially when she asks when her turn is to go to heaven. i tell her when God says it's time... i explain to her that when we get there, Jesus will be so excited to see us, He'll give us a big hug... and right behind him... daddy will be waiting to hold us... she always has such a big smile after i tell her that.
my friend, AB, once mentioned how A's answers to important questions are either, Jesus or daddy, then AB said, "the two most important people in her life." i thought how true it was... in that order too.... Jesus... then her daddy is probably who she thinks of the most...
A wants to be baptized and has been for some months now. we were reading a story of John the Baptist and Jesus... so she talks about how she believes in Jesus and now she should be baptized. she wants me to do it and most days she wants it done right away. one time she even mentioned how then there will be a bird... ha ha... you know those picture bibles has the dove on Jesus' head. I love her thought processing. please pray for her and her desires of this... i think it's great. she's already starting to memorize bible verses, like her daddy and loves singing. her favorite one is "mighty to save" and "better than life". but she really likes "Jesus loves me", "Jesus loves the little children" and so much more. today as we were getting ready for church, she marched herself onto the porch and stood there singing while i got everything together. - God thank you for my baby!!!
i have to say though, as much as she is a gem, i do have my hard days of single-parenting. i look at P's picture frequently and say, "this is not what i signed up for, come and fix it."
i love the promises we have in Christ and that we have hope... and as hard days come, there will always be hope in those hard dark days in Jesus Christ.
this is week is a pretty significant week for those who follow Christ... passion week. praying that it will be a blessing for all. - if you are reading this and do not know who Jesus is or what the significance of passion week is, please contact someone who does, a local church, a local christian radio station, and find out, it'll change your life - forever!!!

spring
P loved going into stores and smelling fertilizer. he thought that it was a sign of spring coming and enjoyed smelling it. i smelled that at the store about a week ago and then the other day... teared up... he loved when seasons changed. here another season comes and he isn't here to see it. it's funny how things just keep getting you. times when you don't expect it. throws you for a loop. uh!!! but glad that i have those memories.
thank you for your prayers as we traveled. A and i had a great time in sunny Florida. it was good. we got time to swim and go around. i enjoyed it... the last day i wanted to make the most of it and go out to eat and have fun, so when dinner time came i asked her what she would like to eat. she says, "mommy, i don't want to go to no more places. i'm tired." ha ha... so we headed back to our room. she's so funny.
